Edge Security Acceleration:Origin certificates

Last Updated:Jan 07, 2025

Origin certificates encrypt and secure data transfer between points of presence (POPs) and your origin server. An origin protocol is the protocol over which Edge Security Acceleration (ESA) POPs request resources from the origin server. ESA allows you to redirect requests to origin servers over HTTP, HTTPS, or the protocol used by the client.

Feature introduction

After you configure the origin protocol, ESA POPs request resources based on the specified protocol.

  • Origin Protocol

    • Match Client: Default. When a client sends an HTTP or HTTPS request, ESA redirects the request to the origin server over the protocol used by the client.

    • HTTP: ESA redirects requests to the origin server over HTTP.

    • HTTPS: ESA redirects requests to the origin server over HTTPS. Before you set Origin Protocol to HTTPS, make sure that you have enabled HTTPS and configured a valid certificate for the origin server.

  • HTTP Port

    • The origin port that ESA POPs access when employing the HTTP protocol. Valid value: 1 to 65535.

  • HTTPS Port

    • The origin port that ESA POPs access when employing the HTTPS protocol. Valid value: 1 to 65535.

    • Default: The protocol and port used by the client request.
