Data Transfer Plan:Set an alert threshold

Last Updated:Sep 14, 2024

This topic describes how to set an alert threshold for data transfer plans. After you set an alert threshold for your data transfer plan, the system sends alert notifications to you by text message and email if the remaining quota of the data transfer plan reaches the specified threshold.

Background information

The threshold alerting feature allows you to receive alert notifications about the remaining quota and purchase new data transfer plans at the earliest opportunity. This way, you can avoid excessive data transfer that is charged at a higher price.

By default, the system sends alert notifications to you when 80 percent quota of your data transfer plan is used. You can also set a custom alert threshold based on your business requirements. For example, the quota of your data transfer plan is 10 GB and the alert threshold is set to 10%. When the remaining quota of your data transfer plan drops to 1 GB, the system sends alert notifications to you.

Important

Alert notifications are sent to you with a latency. You can check the bill for the actual usage of your data transfer plan. We recommend that you purchase new data transfer plans based on the actual data transfer usage.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the Expenses and Costs console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Manage Reserved Instances.

  3. On the Manage Reserved Instances page, set the Resource Type parameter to Resource Packages.

  4. On the right side of the page, click Set Remaining Quota Alert.

  5. In the Set Remaining Quota Alert dialog box, turn on Enable Alert next to Set Remaining Quota Alert Uniformly, select a remaining quota proportion from the Remaining Quota Proportion drop-down list, and then click OK.

You can also find the data transfer plan that you want to manage from the resource plan list and set a remaining quota proportion for the plan.
