Bastionhost:Apply for a free trial of Bastionhost

Applicants

The free trial is available only to first-time users who purchase bastion hosts for the first time. To apply for a free trial, make sure that you have created an Alibaba Cloud account and completed real-name verification for the account.

Step 1: Apply for a free trial

1. Visit the free trial application page of Bastionhost and log on to your Alibaba Cloud account.

2. In the Bastionhost 7 Days Free Trial Form/Contact Sales section, specify the required information and click Register Now.

   You can perform Step 2: Activate the free trial only after your application is approved.

Step 2: Activate the free trial

After your application is approved, you must activate the free trial of Bastionhost within seven calendar days. Otherwise, you cannot use the free trial. The following procedure describes how to activate the free trial of Bastionhost:

1. Visit the buy page of Bastionhost and log on to your Alibaba Cloud account.

2. Configure the parameters based on the following table.

   Parameter	Description	Example
   Region and Zone	The region in which you want to create a bastion host. Note You cannot change the region after the bastion host is created. We recommend that you create a bastion host in the same region as the Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instances that you want to manage. If the bastion host and ECS instances reside in different regions, you must ensure the network connectivity between the bastion host and ECS instances. To view the region in which an ECS instance resides, log on to the ECS console. For more information about the supported regions, see Supported regions.	Singapore
   Version	The edition of the bastion host. You can select Enterprise or Basic Edition based on your business requirements. Enterprise: The bastion host can run in dual-engine mode. This mode provides enhanced stability and reliability in more scenarios. Basic Edition: The bastion host can run only in single-engine mode. In this mode, you can perform O&M and audit operations.    Plan	The number of assets that you can add to the bastion host. For the free trial, you can select only 20 Assets (Trial Use).	20 Assets (Trial Use)
   Resource Group	The resource group to which the bastion host belongs.	Default resource group
   Quantity	The number of bastion hosts that you want to purchase. For the free trial, you can select only 1.	1
   Duration	The validity period of the bastion host. For the free trial, you can select only 1 Week.	1 Week

3. Click Buy Now and complete the payment.

   If your free trial application is approved, the order cost is USD 0.

4. In the upper-right corner of the Alibaba Cloud homepage, click Console. In the Alibaba Cloud console, click Bastionhost. In the upper-left corner of the page that appears, select the region in which your bastion host resides.

5. In the bastion host list, find the bastion host that you want to enable and click Enable. In the Enable panel, select a virtual private cloud (VPC), vSwitch, and security group for the bastion host and click Next. After the parameters pass the check, click Enable.

   After the bastion host is enabled, the state of the bastion host changes to Running. Wait about 20 minutes for the bastion host to be created.

   Important

   • The selected VPC cannot be changed after the bastion host is created. Proceed with caution.
