    Bastionhost:Apply for a free trial

    Bastionhost provides a 7-day free trial. This topic describes how to apply for a Bastionhost free trial.

    Target users

    The free trial is available only to first-time users purchasing their first Bastionhost instance. To apply for a free trial, ensure that you have created an Alibaba Cloud account and completed identity verification for it.

    Note

    • First-time users are those who purchase the Alibaba Cloud Bastionhost service for the first time. If you have previously purchased or used the Alibaba Cloud Bastionhost free trial, you are not considered a first-time user.

    • Alibaba Cloud accounts associated with the same company or mobile phone number are considered the same account. If an Alibaba Cloud account associated with the same company or mobile phone number has applied for or purchased the Bastionhost service, your Alibaba Cloud account cannot successfully apply for the free trial.

    • If you have multiple Alibaba Cloud accounts (where multiple accounts belong to the same user) or certain special Alibaba Cloud accounts, you might not be able to purchase Bastionhost for 0 USD. The actual purchase price prevails.

    • The validity period of this activity is 7 days.

    Step 1: Submit a free trial application

    1. Visit the Bastionhost free trial application page and log on to your Alibaba Cloud account.

    2. Click the Bastion Host product card. On the Bastionhost 7 Days Free Trial Form page, fill in the application information, and click Submit .

      After successful submission, proceed to Step 2: Activate the free trial.

    Step 2: Activate the free trial

    After you submit the application, Refer to the following steps to activate the Bastionhost free trial.

    1. Visit the Bastionhost purchase page and log on to your Alibaba Cloud account.

    2. Configure the trial specifications as described in the following table.

      Select the region where the Bastionhost instance resides.

      Note

      • You cannot change the region after Bastionhost is selected. Choose carefully. We recommend that Bastionhost and the Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instances to be managed are in the same region.

      • If the Bastionhost and ECS instance are not in the same region, you must ensure network connectivity.

      • To view the region where an ECS instance resides, log on to the ECS console.

      Singapore

      Version

      Bastionhost is divided into Enterprise Edition and Basic Edition based on architecture and feature differences. We recommend the Enterprise Edition for trial.

      • Enterprise Edition: Runs in active-active dual-engine mode, offering higher reliability and stability, and covering more feature scenarios.

      • Basic Edition: Runs in single-engine mode, meeting basic O&M and audit requirements.

      Assets

      The number of assets that are managed by the bastion host. For the free trial, you can select 20 Assets (Trial Use).

      Resource Group

      Select the resource group to assign to Bastionhost.

      The number of bastion hosts that you want to purchase. For the free trial, you can select 1.

      Duration

      The validity period of the bastion host. For the free trial, you can select only 1 Week.

    3. Click Buy Now and complete the payment.

      The configuration cost for an Alibaba Cloud account that qualifies for a free trial is 0 USD.

    4. On the Payment Completed page, click Management Console to enter the Bastionhost console. Then, in the upper-left corner of the page, select the region where the Bastionhost you applied for is located.

    5. Click Enable on the right side of the Bastionhost instance. In the Enable panel, select a virtual private cloud (VPC), virtual switch, and security group for Bastionhost, then click OK .

      After the bastion host is enabled, its status changes to Creating. The creation process requires approximately 20 minutes to complete.

      Important

      You cannot change the virtual private cloud (VPC) after selection. Choose carefully.
