The number of your instances, databases, and tables increases as your business grows. Data Management (DMS) provides the asset category feature to help classify the instances, databases, and tables, which allows administrators, developers, and O&M engineers to manage or use the assets more efficiently.
Prerequisites
The database instance to be managed is a relational database or a data warehouse. For more information, see Supported database types and features.
You are a DMS administrator or database administrator (DBA). For information about user roles, see System roles.
Manage asset categories
Create an asset category

In the top navigation bar, choose .
NoteIf you use the DMS console in simple mode, move the pointer over the icon in the upper-left corner of the DMS console and choose
.Click Create Category. In the Edit Category dialog box, enter a category name and click OK.
The created category is displayed in the left-side category tree.
NoteBy default, DMS creates the Uncategorized category. All the tables that are not added to the categories that you create belong to this category.

You can create a maximum of four category levels. If a table is already added to the current category, you cannot create a subcategory under the category.

If the category has a subcategory or assets are already added to the category, you cannot delete the category.

Find the category you want to manage, move the pointer over the icon, and select Change.
Add an asset to a category
Each instance, database, and table can be added to only one category. If you add an asset to another category, the asset is removed from the original category. In the following example, a table to an asset category is added.

.Click the asset category you want to manage.
On the page of the category, click Quick Add in the upper-left corner of the page.
NoteYou can also use one of the following methods to add a table to a category:
On the Tables page of the table you want to manage, click the icon next to Category. For more information, see Manage table details.
