A host group lets you manage multiple hosts within the same zone as a single entity. You can use host groups to manage hosts and Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instances on the hosts, thereby improving O&M efficiency. This topic describes how to create a host group.
Procedure
Log on to the ECS console.
In the left-side navigation pane, choose .
In the top navigation bar, select the region and resource group to which the resource belongs.
On the Host Group tab, click Create Host Group.
On the Create Host Group page, configure the parameters. The following table describes the parameters.
Parameter | Description |
Select a zone | Select a zone in the region where the dedicated host you want to manage resides. Example: Hangzhou Zone I. For more information about regions and zones, see Regions and zones. |
Group Name | The name of the host group. It can be 2 to 128 characters in length and contain digits, periods (.), underscores (_), colons (:), and hyphens (-). It must start with a letter but cannot start with http:// or https:// . |
Description (Optional) | The description of the host group. It must be 2 to 256 characters in length and cannot start with http:// or https:// . |
Tag key (Optional) | Each tag consists of a case-sensitive key-value pair. You can attach tags to host groups to further facilitate resource management. For information about tags, see Tags. |

Add dedicated hosts to the host group as needed.
If you have created dedicated hosts, you can perform the following steps to add them to the host group:
Click Add Host.
In the Add Host panel, select the dedicated hosts that you want to add to the group.
Click Add.
If you have not created dedicated hosts, you can add them after the host group is created. For more information, see Create a dedicated host and Add dedicated hosts to a host group.
Click OK.
What to do next
You can perform multiple management operations on a host group, as described in the following table.

View the details of a host group | On the Host Group tab, click Details in the Actions column. |
Delete a host group | On the Host Group tab, click Delete in the Actions column. Important A host group must be empty before you can delete it. To delete a host group, you need to first move the dedicated hosts in the group to a different group. For more information, see Change the host group of a dedicated host. |
Modify the basic information of a host group | Click Details in the Actions column. On the Host Group Information tab, click the icon next to Basic Information. In the Modify Basic Information dialog box, modify the name, description, and tag of the host group.
