This topic describes the limits on using dedicated hosts.
The following table describes the limits on using dedicated hosts. In addition, the limits on using Elastic Compute Service (ECS) resources also apply to ECS instances that are created on dedicated hosts. For more information, see Limits.
Item | Limit | Adjustable |
Creation of dedicated hosts | Before you create dedicated hosts in the Chinese mainland, you must complete real-name verification. | No |
Supported network types | Virtual private clouds (VPCs) are supported. For more information about VPCs, see What is a VPC? | No |
Maximum number of disks that can be attached to a dedicated host | 200 | No |
Billing methods of dedicated hosts and ECS instances | You can create pay-as-you-go or subscription ECS instances on subscription dedicated hosts. | No |
Creation of subscription ECS instances on a subscription dedicated host | The expiration time of subscription ECS instances cannot be later than that of the dedicated host. | No |
Renewal of subscription ECS instances on a subscription dedicated host | The expiration time of subscription ECS instances cannot be later than that of the dedicated host. If the auto-renewal period of the subscription ECS instances does not meet this requirement, the auto-renewal fails. | No |
Switching of the billing method of ECS instances on a dedicated host from pay-as-you-go to subscription | The expiration time of subscription ECS instances cannot be later than that of the dedicated host. | No |
Change of the billing method of dedicated hosts | You can change the billing method of a dedicated host only from pay-as-you-go to subscription, but not the other way around. | No |
Migration of ECS instances between a shared host and a dedicated host | You can migrate only pay-as-you-go ECS instances. You cannot migrate subscription and preemptible ECS instances. | No |
Migration of ECS instances between dedicated hosts | You can migrate ECS instances only between the same type of dedicated hosts. The dedicated hosts must belong to the same Alibaba Cloud account. You cannot migrate ECS instances between dedicated hosts of the local SSD type. For more information about dedicated host types, see Dedicated host types. | No |
Auto failover | ECS instances that run on dedicated hosts of the local SSD type cannot be automatically migrated in case of a host failure. | No |
Images that are used by ECS instances | In regions outside the Chinese mainland, you cannot use Windows images to create ECS instances on ddh.c6s, ddh.g6s, or ddh.r6s dedicated hosts. | No |
