Create a namespace

This topic uses how to store metric data in Simple Log Service as an example.

1. Log on to the CloudMonitor console.

2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Hybrid Cloud Monitoring > Namespace.

3. On the Namespace page, click Create Namespace.

4. In the Manage Namespace panel, enter a name for the namespace and select Log Service for Data Storage Scheme. Retain the default settings of other parameters.

   Table 1. Parameters of a namespace

   Parameter	Description
   Namespace	The name of the namespace.
   Data Storage Scheme	The storage scheme of metric data. Valid values: Log Service: The metric data is stored in the Logstore of a project in Simple Log Service. Cloud Monitoring Storage: The metric data is stored in the private storage space provided by CloudMonitor and can only be accessed and used in the CloudMonitor console. Note For more information about the storage schemes of metric data, see Storage schemes of metric data in Hybrid Cloud Monitoring.
   Region	The region where the metric data is stored.
   Retention Period	The storage duration of metric data in CloudMonitor. Valid values: cms.s1.large (Retention Period 15 Days) cms.s1.xlarge (Retention Period 32 Days) cms.s1.2xlarge (Retention Period 63 Days) cms.s1.3xlarge (Retention Period 93 Days) (default) cms.s1.6xlarge (Retention Period 185 Days) cms.s1.12xlarge (Retention Period 367 Days) cms.s1.36xlarge (Retention Period 1095 Days) cms.s1.60xlarge (Retention Period 1825 Days) cms.s1.120xlarge (Retention Period 3650 Days) For information about the billing for different retention periods, see Pricing.
   Namespace Description	The description of the namespace.

5. Click OK.

6. View metric data in the Simple Log Service console.

   On the Namespace, click the icon next to Log Service in the Storage Scheme column of the namespace.

   You are redirected to the destination Metricstore page in the Simple Log Service console. You can query and analyze the metric data. For more information, see Query and analyze logs.

Modify a namespace

1. Log on to the CloudMonitor console.

2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Hybrid Cloud Monitoring > Namespace.

3. Find the namespace that you want to modify and click Edit in the Actions column.

4. In the Manage Namespace panel, configure the parameters. The following table describes the parameters.

   For more information about how to configure the parameters of a namespace, see Parameters of a namespace.

5. Click OK.

Delete a namespace

1. Log on to the CloudMonitor console.

2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Hybrid Cloud Monitoring > Namespace.

3. Find the namespace that you want to delete and click Delete in the Actions column.

4. In the Confirm deletion message, click Confirm.

• After you create a namespace, you can access metric data in multi-cloud, hybrid cloud, and cross-account scenarios, and create monitoring dashboards and alert rules for the metric data. Perform the following operations:

  1. Add metrics of Alibaba Cloud services, create a metric import task for a self-managed data center, and create a metric import task for a cloud service of a third-party provider.

  2. Create a custom dashboard.

  3. Create an alert rule.

• After you create a namespace, you can access metric data of services and create monitoring dashboards and alert rules for the metric data. Perform the following operations:

  1. Create a metric import task for Prometheus, create a metric import task for on-premises logs, and create a metric for logs imported from Simple Log Service.

  2. Create a custom dashboard.

  3. Create an alert rule.
