A cloud box is deployed in your data center. You can purchase a cloud box online. To purchase a cloud box, you must create a deployment site for the cloud box in the Elastic Compute Service (ECS) console. Then, you can create a cloud box at the deployment site and purchase resources for the cloud box.
Step 1: Create a deployment site
A deployment site is the physical location in which a cloud box is deployed. The deployment site is used to store the hardware infrastructure of the cloud box. For example, you can specify your data center as a deployment site. A deployment site must meet the deployment requirements for a cloud box, such as the requirements for the power supply, network connectivity, and environment. For more information, see Deployment requirements.
Go to the Deployment Sites tab.
Log on to the ECS console.
In the left-side navigation pane, choose .
In the top navigation bar, select a region.
Click the Deployment Sites tab.
Click Create Deployment Site.
Configure the basic information about the deployment site and complete the survey on the delivery conditions of the deployment site.
Configure the following parameters and click Next:Delivery Condition Survey.
Parameter
Example
Description
Deployment Site Name
Testdatacenter
The name of the deployment site.
Description
Test
Optional. The description of the deployment site.
Country
China
The physical location of the deployment site. After you associate a cloud box with the deployment site, you cannot modify these parameters for the deployment site.
Province/City
Guangdong / Heyuan
Detailed Address
ZhongshanRoad-YuanchengDistrict
Complete the survey on the delivery conditions of the deployment site and click Confirm.
The survey investigates the conditions of the deployment site, including the basic information, space, environment, power supply, and network connectivity of your data center. Complete the survey based on the actual conditions of your data center.
Step 2: Create a cloud box
After you create a deployment site, you can create a cloud box at the deployment site.
On the Cloud Boxes page in the ECS console, click the Cloud Boxes tab.
Click Create Cloud Box.
In the Create Cloud Box dialog box, configure the following parameters and click OK.
Parameter
Example
Description
Name
Testcloudbox
The name of the cloud box. You can specify a custom name to distinguish the cloud box from other cloud boxes.
Description
Test
Optional. The description of the cloud box.
Deployment Site
Testdatacenter
The deployment site at which the cloud box is deployed. Select the deployment site that you created.
After the cloud box is delivered and passes your acceptance test, you cannot modify this parameter if the cloud box is in the Running state.
Cloud Box Zone Identifier
huidu
The name of the cloud box zone on the Alibaba Cloud public cloud.
Confirm the basic information that you configure and click OK.
Step 3: Purchase resources for the cloud box
After you create a cloud box, you need to purchase resources for the cloud box, such as the computing stock keeping units (SKUs) and the storage capacity of Elastic Block Storage (EBS).
On the Cloud Boxes page in the ECS console, click the Resource Directory tab.
Find the type of the SKU that you want to purchase for the cloud box, specify the number of SKUs that you want to purchase, and then click Associate Cloud Box.
A cloud box must contain at least one computing SKU. In this example, one computing SKU whose ID is OR-BC72F47D81 is purchased. This computing SKU provides 208 vCPUs and 384 GiB of memory and allows you to create up to two ECS instances of the ecs.c6.26xlarge type. You can also use the computing SKU to create multiple ECS instances of other ecs.c6 types.
Select the cloud box that you created from the drop-down list and click OK.
On the page that appears, specify the storage capacity for the cloud box, select one or more value-added service plans, and then specify the payment information for the cloud box.
Parameter
Example
Description
Compute
One computing SKU whose ID is OR-BC72F47D81
The computing SKUs of the cloud box. You can confirm the computing SKU that you specified. You can also specify more computing SKUs for the cloud box.
Storage
EBS
ESSD, 12 TiB
The EBS storage capacity of the cloud box. For more information, see EBS resources.
OSS
0 TiB
The Object Storage Service (OSS) storage capacity of the cloud box. For more information, see OSS resources.
Value-added Service Plan
SLA Service Plan
Not purchase
The value-added service plan based on a service level agreement (SLA). Select an SLA service plan based on your business requirements. By default, no SLA is provided for the ECS instances in the cloud box.
Local Express Connect Circuit Plan
Not purchase
The local Express Connect circuit plan for the cloud box. Select a local Express Connect circuit plan based on your business requirements. By default, the bandwidth between the cloud box and a local device is 20 Gbit/s. You can increase the bandwidth to 60 Gbit/s after you purchase the bandwidth plan.
Compute Expansion Plan
Not purchase
The scaling plan for the computing capacity of the cloud box. Select a scaling plan based on your business requirements. You can use a scaling plan to upgrade an existing computing SKU and increase the computing resources deployed in your rack.
Duration
3Years
The duration for which you want to purchase the cloud box. Valid values: 3Years and 5Years.
Payment Option
All Upfront
The payment type of the cloud box. Valid values: All Upfront and Half Upfront.
Read and agree to the Alibaba Cloud Box Service Agreement by selecting the check box and click Confirm Order.
After you confirm the order, a resource demand order is generated. You can click the cloud box ID on the order to go to the cloud box details page. On the page that appears, click the Resource Demand Order tab and view the order information.
ImportantBefore you submit the order, you must click Pay in the Actions column of the order to pay the fees based on the payment type that you select.
What to do next
After you submit the order, Alibaba Cloud starts the delivery process to install and deploy the cloud box in your data center. For more information, see Deliver a cloud box.
