You can use Cloud Backup to back up SAP HANA instances that are deployed on Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instances and restore these SAP HANA instances based on your business requirements. This topic describes the preparations that you must implement before a data backup.
Step 1: Authorize roles
Before you use Cloud Backup to back up SAP HANA instances that are deployed on ECS instances, authorize the AliyunServiceRoleForHbrEcsBackup role to access your data stored in the SAP HANA instances. Procedure
Log on to the Cloud Backup console.
In the left-side navigation pane, choose .
On the page that appears, assign the roles as prompted.
In the Activate service and create service linked role section, click Apply Service.

Step 2: Install Cloud Assistant
A Cloud Backup client for ECS must be used together with Cloud Assistant.
If the ECS instance that you need to back up was purchased before December 1, 2017, you must install Cloud Assistant Agent. For more information, see Install Cloud Assistant Agent.
If the ECS instance that you need to back up was purchased on or after December 1, 2017, Cloud Assistant Agent is pre-installed.
