Cloud Backup offers a 30-day free trial for some data sources. During the free trial, you are not charged for using Cloud Backup, regardless of the sizes of the data sources. You can switch to paid usage at any time during the free trial. If you do not switch to Pay After Trial Ends within the 30 days of free trial, the backup job is automatically stopped after the 30-day free trial ends. All the backup data generated during the free trial is deleted on the seventh day after the backup job is stopped. To ensure data security, we recommend that you switch to paid usage in a timely manner. This topic describes the limits on the 30-day free trial and the billable items that are free of charge during the free trial.
Limits and methods to switch to paid usage
The following enterprise-level features do not support 30-day free trial: cross-region backup, automatic archiving, Key Management Service (KMS)-based encryption, immutable backup, and backup point virus detection.
Limits on backup plans: You cannot edit the source path and backup cycle. The default backup interval is one day and the default retention period is one week. You cannot change the backup interval and retention period. Each free-trial backup plan uses its own independent backup vault. After you switch to paid usage, you cannot change the backup vault.
You can use one of the following three methods to switch to paid usage:
If you select Pay After Trial Ends when you create a free backup plan, the plan is automatically switched to a paid plan after the 30 days. You can also click Switch to Paid Plan to immediately switch to a paid plan.
On the Backup Plans tab, choose
in the Status column of an existing free backup plan. The backup plan is automatically switched to a paid backup plan after the 30-day free trial ends. Alternatively, choose in the Status column to immediately switch the backup plan to a paid plan.On the Storage Vaults page, choose
in the Actions column of a Tablestore backup vault. For an Object Storage Service (OSS) backup vault, choose in the Status column. The backup plan is automatically switched to a paid backup plan after the 30-day free trial ends. Alternatively, choose in the Status column to immediately switch the backup plan to a paid plan.
You can perform the following operations to edit the backup policy after you switch the free backup plan to a paid plan:
On the Backup Plans page, click
in the Actions column. On the Policy Center page, create a backup policy based on the backup vault information. Set the backup cycle and enable enterprise-level backup features based on your business requirements. On the Modify Plan page, select the backup policy that you created in the previous step from the Backup Policy drop-down list and associate the policy with the paid backup plan. If you need to modify the policy details, you can edit the policy on the Policy Center page.
Backup plans that are created by using the Associate Resource Tag (Optional) feature in a backup policy cannot enjoy the 30-day free trial. For more information, see Associate Resource Tag (Optional).
