If the minor engine version is outdated, service interruptions or data loss may occur. ApsaraDB ClickHouse supports an update to the minor engine version. An update to the minor engine version enhances performance, introduces new features, and fixes known bugs.

Usage notes

  • Only the minor engine versions of ApsaraDB for ClickHouse clusters that were purchased after December 1, 2021 can be updated.
  • When you update the minor engine version of your ApsaraDB for ClickHouse cluster, the ApsaraDB ClickHouse service may become unavailable for about 1-5 minutes. We recommend that you update the minor engine version during off-peak hours and make sure that your application can automatically reconnect to the cluster.
  • When a new minor engine version is released, the ApsaraDB ClickHouse service pushes notifications to the contacts that are associated with your Alibaba Cloud account. We recommend that you update the minor engine version at your earliest opportunity. If you do not update the minor engine version to the latest version within six months after you receive the update notification, you need to bear the consequences of service interruptions and data loss arising therefrom.
  • After you update the minor engine version, you cannot roll the minor engine version back to the previous version.
  • When you update the minor engine version, you can only view the cluster information. You cannot upgrade, scale out, scale in, or restart the cluster, or modify parameter configurations.
  • If an asterisk (*) is displayed next to Minor Version in the ApsaraDB ClickHouse console, the ApsaraDB for ClickHouse cluster of the current version does not support an update to the minor engine version.

Update the minor engine version

  1. Log on to the ApsaraDB for ClickHouse console.
  2. In the upper-left corner, select the region where the cluster that you want to manage is deployed.
  3. On the Clusters page, click the Default Instances tab and click the ID of the cluster that you want to manage to go to the Cluster Information page.
  4. In the Configuration Information section, click Minor Version Upgrade on Kernel next to Minor Version.
    Note If The current version is the latest version is displayed next to Minor Version, you do not need to update the minor engine version.
  5. In the Minor Version Upgrade dialog box that appears, configure the Latest Version and Upgrade Time parameters, and click OK.
    Note It requires 10 minutes to update the minor engine version. When the cluster status changes from Upgrading to Running, the minor engine version is updated.
