You can view monitoring information about an Express Connect circuit associated with a virtual border router (VBR) by using CloudMonitor and the health check feature of Cloud Enterprise Network (CEN). Monitoring information includes outbound bandwidth, inbound bandwidth, network latency, and packet loss rate. This topic describes how to view monitoring information about an Express Connect circuit on the Health Check page of the CEN console.
Background information
Before you view monitoring information about an Express Connect circuit, take note of the following limits:- After you associate a VBR with a transit router, the system displays the inbound and outbound bandwidth of the Express Connect circuit by default.
- Before you can view information about network latency and packet loss rate of an Express Connect circuit, you must configure health checks for the Express Connect circuit. For more information, see Configure health checks.
View monitoring information about an Express Connect circuit
- Log on to the CEN console.
- In the left-side navigation pane, click Health Check.
- On the Health Check page, select the region where the VBR is deployed.
- Find the health check configuration and click in the Monitor column to view monitoring information about the Express Connect circuit.
- By default, the monitoring data of the last hour is displayed. Each data point represents the average value within the minute.
You can select 3 hours, 6 hours, 12 hours, 7 days, 30 days, or a custom time range on the top of the Charts tab to view the monitoring data collected within the specified time range. You can also modify the Interval parameter to collect the average within every 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 1 hour, or 1 day.
- The monitoring data is dynamically updated.
On the top of the Charts tab, turn on Auto Refresh to enable the system to automatically update monitoring data every minute.
Monitoring metrics of Express Connect circuits:
- Outbound Bandwidth: the bandwidth that is used to transmit data from Alibaba Cloud to the data center. Default unit: bit/s.
You can select Kbit/s, Mbit/s, or Gbit/s from the drop-down list next to the monitoring metric.
- Inbound Bandwidth: the bandwidth that is used to transmit data from the data center to Alibaba Cloud. Default unit: bit/s.
You can select Kbit/s, Mbit/s, or Gbit/s from the drop-down list next to the monitoring metric.
- Latency: the network latency between Alibaba Cloud and the data center. Unit: milliseconds.
- Packet Loss Rate: the packet loss rate of communication between Alibaba Cloud and the data center.
Note You can also view monitoring information about the Express Connect circuit on the Charts tab. For more information, see View the monitoring data of Express Connect circuits. - By default, the monitoring data of the last hour is displayed. Each data point represents the average value within the minute.
Create a threshold-based alert rule for the Express Connect circuit
- Log on to the CEN console.
- In the left-side navigation pane, click Health Check.
- On the Health Check page, select the region where the VBR is deployed. Find the health check configuration and click Set Alarm in the Monitor column.
- On the Alert Rules page, click Create Alert Rule.
- On the Create Alert Rule page, set Product to CEN-Router, set other parameters based on your requirements, and then click OK. You can configure a threshold-triggered alert rule by specifying a threshold value for network latency, packet loss rate, inbound bandwidth, or outbound bandwidth. For more information, see Create an alert rule.
