CDN:Rules for applying resource plans

Last Updated:Feb 10, 2026

This topic describes the rules for applying resource plans.

Offset time

  • A resource plan takes effect when you purchase it.

  • After a resource plan takes effect, it may take 3 to 4 hours for the plan to be applied to your resource fees.

If you purchase a 1-month, 1 TB outbound traffic resource plan for the Chinese mainland at 10:30:30 on August 12, 2021, deductions will not begin until approximately 14:00:00. This is because traffic consumed between 10:00:00 and 11:00:00 is deducted only after the system generates the bill for that hour.

Offset order

You can purchase multiple resource plans. If you have multiple resource plans of the same type, they are applied based on the following priority:

  • Resource plans are applied in chronological order of their expiration time. The resource plan with the earliest expiration time is applied first.

  • If all resource plans of a specific type are exhausted, any subsequent usage is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis.

If you have a CDN resource plan for regions outside the Chinese mainland and another for North America, and your end users are in North America, the system applies whichever of the two plans expires first.

Other rules

  • A resource plan can be used to offset only the fees for its corresponding billable item. It cannot be used to offset fees for other billable items.

Outbound data transfer plans can be used to offset only outbound data transfer fees, not for other items such as HTTPS requests.

  • For outbound data transfer plans, you can use the resource plan to offset fees only if the metering method is pay-by-data-transfer. In addition, resource plans are region-specific. A resource plan for one acceleration region cannot be used to offset fees in another.

For example, an outbound data transfer plan for the Chinese mainland can be used to offset outbound data transfer fees only in the Chinese mainland. You cannot use it to offset outbound data transfer fees in Hong Kong (China), Macao (China), Taiwan (China), or other countries and regions outside the Chinese mainland.

  • If a resource plan expires or is exhausted, billing automatically switches to pay-as-you-go. We recommend that you monitor your resource plan usage and purchase plans as needed to avoid unexpected charges.
