Cloud Architect Design Tools:Use a custom image to create an ECS instance

Last Updated:Nov 25, 2024

This topic describes how to create an Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instance from a custom image by using Cloud Architect Design Tools (CADT).

Prerequisites

A custom image is created in the desired region. For information about how to create a custom image, see Create a custom image.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the CADT console.

  2. In the upper part of the page that appears, choose Create > Create > Application. The following example demonstrates how to create an ECS instance in the scenario of a single region and a single zone.

Operations: 1. In the left-side navigation pane, click Quick Start. Find the Single Region, Single Zone suite in the Quick Start drop-down list and drag the suite to the canvas.

    2. Enter ECS in the search box and drag the ECS node to the vswitch section on the canvas.9

  3. Double-click the resource icons to configure the parameters for a region, a virtual private cloud (VPC), and a vSwitch in sequence. When you configure the ECS instance, take note of the following parameters:

    • Mirror: Double-click the ecs icon on the canvas. In the panel that appears, select Custom Image from the Mirror drop-down list.

    • Mirror Version: CADT automatically synchronizes all custom images in the region. Select the desired image.

      Note

Data synchronization takes time. If you cannot find the desired custom image, wait 5 to 10 minutes, refresh the page, and then try again.
