Service Mesh (ASM) allows you to change the edition of an ASM instance of V1.9.7.114 or later from Standard Edition or Professional Edition to a commercial edition. Commercial editions include Enterprise Edition and Ultimate Edition. These commercial editions provide enhanced capabilities, better support for large-scale clusters, and comprehensive technical support. This topic describes how to change the edition of an ASM instance.
Procedure
Log on to the ASM console. In the left-side navigation pane, choose .
On the Mesh Management page, find the ASM instance whose edition you want to change and click Specification change in the Actions column.
On the Specification change page, set the Spec parameter to the desired edition, read and agree to service agreements by selecting the check box next to Service Agreement, and then click Update Service Mesh.
NoteWhen you upgrade an ASM instance of a non-commercial edition (Standard Edition or Professional Edition) that was created before July 12, 2023, to a commercial edition, the ASM gateway restarts. We recommend that you change the edition of your ASM instance during off-peak hours. For more information about billing, see Billing rules.
ASM instances of Standard Edition:
If the version of your ASM instance is V1.9.7.114 or later, you can manually change the edition of your instance to a commercial edition in the ASM console.
If the version of your ASM instance is earlier than V1.9.7.114, you need to update the version to V1.9.7.114 or later before you can change the edition to a commercial edition. For more information about how to update an ASM instance, see Update an ASM instance.
ASM instances of Professional Edition: The edition of your ASM instance automatically changes to a commercial edition in the ASM console.
Activate ASM by using the pay-as-you-go billing method.
If you have not created an ASM instance of a commercial edition before and this is your first time to change the edition of an ASM instance from Standard Edition or Professional Edition to a commercial edition, the Error message appears to prompt you to activate ASM by using the pay-as-you-go billing method.
In the Error message, click go to activate. On the page that appears, read and agree to ASM (Pay-as-you-go) Terms of Service and click Activate Now.
After you activate ASM by using the pay-as-you-go billing method, ASM starts to change the edition of your ASM instance. If the value in the Status column of the instance changes from Updating to Running on the Mesh Management page, the edition is changed.
(Optional) Restart the application pods in the clusters on the data plane.
After you change the edition of your ASM instance from Standard Edition or Professional Edition to a commercial edition, you must restart the application pods in the clusters on the data plane. Then, you can use the features provided by the commercial edition.
