If your Alibaba Cloud account has an insufficient balance to cover pay-as-you-go fees for Synthetic Monitoring and no funds are added on the same day, the payment becomes overdue. Overdue payments interrupt your synthetic monitoring tasks and, if left unsettled past the data retention period, can lead to permanent data loss.
Pay-as-you-go
When a payment becomes overdue
A payment becomes overdue when both of the following conditions are true:
Your account balance is insufficient to deduct the fees for your pay-as-you-go Synthetic Monitoring resources.
No funds are added to your Alibaba Cloud account on the same day.
Notifications
On the day the overdue payment occurs, Synthetic Monitoring sends a notification through one or more of the following channels:
Email
Text message
Internal message
After you receive the notification, add funds to your Alibaba Cloud account as soon as possible to avoid service interruption.
Impact on tasks and data
The following table describes what happens after an overdue payment occurs.
| Time after overdue payment | What happens |
|---|---|
| Day 0 (same day) | Synthetic Monitoring automatically stops the affected synthetic monitoring task. The task is not deleted. Synthetic Monitoring continues to receive reported metric data. |
| Day 1 through day 7 (grace period) | If you add funds and settle the overdue payment during this period, Synthetic Monitoring automatically resumes the task with no data loss. |
| After day 7 | Synthetic Monitoring stops the synthetic monitoring task. If no data is detected when the retention period expires, the instance is released. Released instances and data cannot be recovered. |
In short: You have 7 days to settle the payment and resume service with no data loss. After 7 days, the task is stopped. If no data is detected when the data retention period expires, the instance and all data are permanently deleted.
Data retention periods
| Data type | Retention period |
|---|---|
| Metric data | 15 days |
| Request data | 30 days |
