If your primary instance becomes unavailable as planned or due to the failure of the majority of replicas, you can change the role of a standby instance to the primary instance to take over the services. This topic describes the steps of switchover between the primary instance and a standby instance for disaster recovery.
Background information
The switchover may interrupt services. We recommend that you perform the switchover during off-peak hours. After the switchover, the original primary instance will become a standby instance, and the information about the original standby instance will be displayed in the workspace of the primary instance.
Procedure
Log on to the ApsaraDB for OceanBase console.
In the left-side navigation pane, click Instances. In the instance list, select the target standby instance to go to its workspace page.
In the instance list, click the More icon in the Actions column of the current standby instance and then select Switch to Primary Instance.
Click OK.
