[Product changes] Announcement on automatic upgrade for ACK Serverless cluster architecture

Updated at: 2024-11-11 12:07

To ensure that early ACK Serverless clusters can receive feature updates synchronously, starting from 20:00:00 (UTC+8), July 22, 2024, Container Service for Kubernetes (ACK) automatically upgrades the architecture of ACK Serverless clusters created before November 1, 2021.

Effective date

From 20:00:00 (UTC+8), July 22, 2024 to 23:59:59 (UTC+8), July 25, 2024. During this period, the system performs an automatic upgrade on the Serverless underlying architecture.

Scope of impact

This upgrade targets ACK Serverless clusters created before November 1, 2021. These clusters run on a legacy architecture, which may lag in supporting new features.

You can check whether your cluster is subject to this upgrade by calling the DescribeClusterDetail operation to verify if the cluster subtype (profile) in the response is ask.v2.

Impact details

  • Upgrade process: The upgrade takes about 3 minutes, and it does not interrupt your services deployed in the cluster.

  • Architecture changes: After the upgrade, the cluster type (cluster_type) will change from Ask to ManagedKubernetes, and the cluster subtype (profile) will change from ask.v2 to Serverless.

  • API compatibility: After the upgrade, the values of the cluster_type and profile fields will change for the response of API operations related to cluster queries, such as DescribeClustersV1 and DescribeClusterDetail. If you use tools such as OpenAPI, SDK, and Terraform to manage clusters and rely on these fields, you must modify the relevant code to ensure the API compatibility.
