This topic describes how to enable the account protection feature.
Log on to the Alibaba Cloud Management Console and click the profile picture in the upper-right corner to go to the Account Center page.
In the left-side navigation pane, click Security Settings. On the page that appears, click Edit in the Account Protection section to go to the Account Protection page.
Step 1: Select one or more of the following scenarios for which you want to enable the account protection feature.
Log In
Modify account information (modify email / modify phone / unbind TOTP)
Step 2: Select one or more of the following verification methods that you want to use.
SMS verification
No mobile phone number is bound to the account.
Enter a mobile phone number.
Obtain a verification code and enter the code that is received by the mobile phone.
Click Submit. The account protection feature is enabled.
A mobile phone number is bound to the account.
Enter a verification code and click Submit. The account protection feature is enabled.
Time-based one-time password (TOTP) verification. TOTP allows you to obtain verification codes received by an installed TOTP authenticator app to verify identities.
Identity verification
Install Google Authenticator on your mobile phone and click Next.
Select Mobile Verification, enter a verification code, and then click Submit.
Select Email Verification, enter a verification code, and then click Submit.
Install an app
Install Google Authenticator on your mobile phone. After the app is installed, click Next.
If you use an iPhone, search for and download Google Authenticator in App Store and install the app.
If you use an Android phone, search for and download Google Authenticator from your preferred app store and install the app.
Enable multi-factor authentication (MFA). If you enable MFA, you must provide multiple verification factors. This helps ensure the security of your account and resources.
Use Google Authenticator to scan the QR code on the Alibaba Cloud page to obtain a 6-digit verification code.
If the scan failed, click Scan Failed? to edit your username and password. Enter the username and password in Google Authenticator to obtain a 6-digit verification code.
Enter the verification code and click OK. The account protection feature is enabled.
Step 3: Click Return to my Alibaba Cloud to go to the Security Settings page. In the Account Protection section, the status of the feature is changed to Already Set and you can click Edit next to Already Set. This indicates that the account protection feature is enabled.
