Lifecycle management
With the pay-as-you-go billing method, you are charged for compute resources based on the instance runtime and specifications. You are also charged for storage based on the data volume and storage duration. Bills are settled hourly. The lifecycle of a pay-as-you-go Hologres instance is as follows:
Example scenarios:
You can purchase an analytic instance on the Alibaba Cloud official website and select the pay-as-you-go billing method. After the instance is activated, you can use it. Bills are settled hourly. The system sends a bill and automatically deducts the fee from your account. If your account has an overdue payment, the instance remains available, but bill generation is paused. When the overdue payment reaches 1,000 USD, the system attempts another deduction. If this payment fails and is not completed within 14 days, the instance is suspended and becomes unavailable. Ensure that your account has a sufficient balance to prevent instance suspension due to payment failure. If the payment is not made within 14 days of the suspension, the instance is released. The system then deletes the instance from the console. Your business data will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
The pay-as-you-go billing method also supports manual suspension. When you manually pause an instance, the system releases its compute resources and stops charging for them. However, you are still charged for storage, and these fees are settled hourly. You can manually resume the instance at any time. When you resume an instance, the system automatically resumes billing for both compute and storage resources. You can also manually delete an instance. If you do, the system settles the fees based on your actual usage before the deletion and sends a final bill. After you delete an instance, it is automatically released, and its data is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

When you manually resume an instance, the system must request compute resources again. If the compute resources in the current zone are out of stock, an "inventory shortage" error occurs. To resolve this issue, you can submit a ticket.

For the pay-as-you-go billing method, assume that you purchase an instance with 64 CUs of compute resources and 256 GB of storage, and you store 100 GB of data for one hour. If the instance is in the Singapore region, the total fee for that hour is calculated as follows: 0.066604 × 64 × 1 + 0.000379 × 100 × 1 = 4.300556 USD.

The system settles the fees for your actual compute and storage usage hourly. After a bill is generated, the fee is automatically deducted from your account. If the accumulated overdue payment reaches 1,000 USD and a deduction fails, the system sends you suspension reminders by text message and email 7 days, 3 days, and 1 day before the suspension. If you still do not make the payment, the instance is suspended on the 15th day and becomes unavailable. If the payment is not made within 14 days of the suspension, the system automatically releases the instance. The system sends you release reminders by text message and email 7 days, 3 days, and 1 day before the release.
