Team Apulgon—four talented developers from Bandung named Daffa Ramadhan, Muhammad Fakhriza, Radiga Gubarda, and Alief Palguno—identified a critical challenge facing their community: Bandung City's overwhelming waste management crisis. With 25,000 tons of annual garbage leading to river pollution and overflowing disposal sites, the team recognized an opportunity where cloud computing could make a significant difference.
The WasteWise platform demonstrates the power of Alibaba Cloud to transform civic infrastructure. This web-based solution enables Bandung's sanitation department to:
● Predict waste generation patterns using advanced analytics
● Deploy resources efficiently based on data-driven insights
● Communicate seamlessly through an AI-powered assistant
What makes this solution particularly impressive is how Team Apulgon integrated multiple Alibaba Cloud services into a cohesive platform. The team utilized our Model Studio to analyze waste patterns and customize Qwen Max models to help deliver insights, while Elastic Compute Service provided the reliable foundation needed for consistent performance.
The technical implementation of WasteWise showcases the versatility of our cloud ecosystem:
● Predictive Intelligence: By processing historical waste data through our cloud infrastructure, the platform forecasts potential overflow situations before they occur
● Interactive AI: The integrated chatbot, powered by our Qwen models, offers sanitation workers an intuitive interface to access critical information
● Scalable Architecture: Built on Alibaba Cloud ECS, the solution can grow alongside Bandung's expanding needs
This hackathon prototype demonstrates how Alibaba Cloud technologies can empower creative solutions to urban challenges. Through WasteWise, Team Apulgon has showcased the potential for cloud computing and AI to transform waste management practices.
