3. Higress's New WASM Runtime Greatly Improves Performance

Higress is a cloud-native api gateway open-source project, powered by Istio and Envoy, and largely adopted by Alibaba Cloud. This article presents the recent advancements of Higress in transitioning the Wasm plug-in's runtime from V8 to WebAssembly Micro Runtime (WAMR). The switch to WAMR and activation of the AOT mode resulted in a significant 50% average performance enhancement for the Wasm plug-in, and in some instances, the performance of plug-ins with intricate logic has doubled.
