On July 22, Alibaba Cloud joined forces with the Henley Business School at the University of Reading to announce the establishment of its first Skills Center in the UK. This marks another significant milestone in their deepened collaboration following the signing of Alibaba Cloud Academic Empowerment Program (AAEP).

The Henley Business School at the University of Reading is one of the earliest established business schools in the UK and among the first in Europe. It is one of the few business schools worldwide to receive triple accreditation from the three leading business accreditation bodies (AMBA, EQUIS, and AACSB). Its courses in real estate, finance, and the DBA are ranked among the top in UK universities, with its real estate programs particularly renowned worldwide, ranking the top in Europe alongside the University of Cambridge's real estate finance program.

The Skills Center will serve as a bridge, integrating Alibaba Cloud's advanced technologies with the Henley Business School at the University of Reading's exceptional educational resources. We are set to launch courses covering topics such as cloud computing, big data, and AI. Through study tours, mobile classrooms, and competitive events, we aim to foster a close integration of theory and practice, while inspiring the creativity and potential of participants. This will equip them with high-caliber talents possessing digital skills and international competitiveness, actively propelling the intelligent and digital transformation of the global education sector.

Cultivating More Digital Talents

The joint establishment of the Skills Center with the Henley Business School at the University of Reading not only marks Alibaba Cloud's first in-depth collaboration with the UK education sector, but also represents a significant step in Alibaba Cloud's global strategy to nurture and empower local talent. Moving forward, Alibaba Cloud will continue to partner with additional prestigious academic institutions worldwide, driving technological innovation and talent development.

"In an ever-changing world, students must carry forward their thirst for innovation and discovery. Cloud technology will help us move forward, and the Skills Centre aims to provide opportunities for academics and students globally by committing resources to the goal of developing the digital talent of the future," said Professor Robert Van de Noort, Vice-Chancellor, University of Reading.

"The collaboration between Alibaba Cloud and the Henley Business School at the University of Reading is not only a profound integration of technology and education, but also signifies Alibaba Cloud's steadfast commitment to nurturing digital talent globally. We look forward to partnering with more renowned educational institutions to jointly cultivate digital talents with international competitiveness and actively driving the intelligent and digital transformation of global education," said Selina Yuan, Vice President of Alibaba Group; President of Alibaba Cloud International.
