Kaya, an e-commerce platform developed by Silot, combines the power of social media with e-commerce to create a unique marketplace in Indonesia. Kaya caters to consumers and sellers who specialize in long-tail products and services, which are typically non-standardized and difficult to scale, such as alteration and tailoring services , and even products normally sold in night markets.

Through the Kaya app, users can conveniently follow their favorite sellers on Kaya's social network to find their preferred items and get the best deals. The app also supports multiple online payment platforms like DANA, Go-Pay, OVO, LinkAja, and Shopee Pay, as well as online banking applications like BCA, Mandiri, BRI, BNI, and ATM Bersama.

In addition to buyers, Kaya also supports part-time sellers in Indonesia who are looking to earn an extra income. The app enables small businesses, who usually do not have a centralized supply chain, to sell in bulk. Businesses of all sizes can easily take advantage of the innovative Kaya platform to promote their products and gain more customers.

The e-commerce market in Indonesia is saturated and competitive. In order to turn innovative ideas into success, Silot needed a reliable and capable partner, with experience and expertise in the domain of e-commerce and logistics. Silot also needed a cloud partner that could support it with its cyber and data security needs, while providing a high-performance, reliable, and scalable infrastructure.

Furthermore, Silot required analytics capabilities on its e-commerce platform to analyze the browsing behavior of the users, so as to offer them a personalized on-site experience while providing cross-sell opportunities for sellers. Silot also needed to mitigate the risk of fraud through identity verification capabilities on its platform by automatically identifying and authorizing users for every transaction.

Alibaba Cloud has shown its dedication to the growth of companies in Indonesia through three world-class local data centers, reliable cloud infrastructure, and over 200 cost-effective cloud products and services. Silot could rely on Alibaba Cloud for the computing and storage needs of its Kaya platform, and make use of Alibaba Cloud’s highly available architecture and managed services to operate and manage the Kaya e-commerce platform in a cost-effective manner.

Furthermore, the support by Alibaba Cloud's technical team enabled Silot to deploy its system and expand its business on Alibaba Cloud quickly and smoothly. In terms of expertise in e-commerce, Alibaba Cloud offers a host of comprehensive e-commerce solutions, which are built with the same leading technologies that supported the annual Double 11 Shopping Festival, including big data analytics, intelligent chatbot, omnichannel marketing, livestreaming, and personalized content recommendation.

Silot made use of the Kubernetes containerization framework, together with Alibaba Cloud infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) products such as Elastic Compute Service (ECS) clusters and Application Load Balancer (ALB), to build an application development and deployment pipeline with agility and scalability for the Kaya e-commerce platform. Silot also utilized Alibaba Cloud's cloud-native data storage and database solutions, such as ApsaraDB RDS, ApsaraDB Redis, Object Storage Service (OSS) and File Storage NAS, to manage its large and complex social media profile and e-commerce transaction information. All these products and services enabled the Kaya platform to be highly available and scalable, and reduced the possibility of downtime.

Apart from optimizing its daily operations, Silot also consolidated its analytics capabilities and developed a big data platform on top of Alibaba Cloud's big data solution. This solution consists of DataWorks, MaxCompute, and Machine Learning Platform for Artificial Intelligence (PAI), with deep learning algorithms to uncover purchasing patterns through behavior analysis and consumer profiling. This allowed Silot to further improve the accuracy of its recommendation system and increase the transaction success rate.
