About Technimal
Based in Thailand, Technimal provides an end-to-end Industrial IoT (IIoT) platform called Technimal EDGE to improve the operational efficiencies, safety and quality within the manufacturing industry. Technimal EDGE is a versatile solution, combining information from any type of equipment and providing actionable insights to manufacturers. This plug-and-play solution is not only simple to use but also has helped Technimal’s customers decrease downtime through a range of monitoring, predictive maintenance, and process optimization tools.
Challenge
Before using Alibaba Cloud, Technimal struggled to manage the vast scale of its EDGE platform. Its existing cloud solution did not provide the elasticity to scale up and down as demand fluctuated. Technimal was faced with high cloud service costs and redundant storage, representing a significant drain on its resources. Data latency was another challenge, affecting the quality-of-service Technimal could provide to its customers. For industrial users, real-time insights are key to help reduce downtime, increase efficiency, and maximize profitability.
Why Alibaba Cloud
Alibaba Cloud provided Technimal with a range of cloud-based solutions, helping Technimal provide a high-quality, end-to-end IIoT service to its customers. From data consolidation to generating valuable insights, Technimal EDGE now has the resources to power a range of smart manufacturing solutions across the data lifecycle. As a result, Technimal’s customers can confidentially go into The Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) with a robust, efficient and secure IIoT solution.
Architecture
Technimal now uses our Elastic Compute Service (ECS) solution, which provides elastic and secure virtual cloud servers. These servers can be scaled to match demand – and with Technimal only charged for the resources it requires. Technimal also invested in the Container Service for Kubernetes (ACK), another scalable solution to help the company run its containerized applications on the cloud. In combination with our PostgreSQL on-demand database hosting service and all-in-one Log Service, Technimal reduced latency and costs across its platform. These technical solutions are also complemented by Alibaba Cloud’s local support team in Thailand, helping Technimal realize the full rewards of our cloud-based technologies to drive further cost savings and efficiencies across its business.
