There has been a significant increase in mobile phone usage during the Covid-19 pandemic. Funsoft’s reading application NovelMe also witnessed a surge in its daily users. It became crucial for Funsoft to provide a seamless experience to its users by mitigating any potential downtime risks and ensuring high application availability.

Funsoft was looking for a trusted, high-performing, and cost-effective cloud service provider to successfully handle the growing volume of incoming traffic, manage a large amount of user data and ensure business continuity.

Funsoft deployed its core application, NovelMe, by leveraging Alibaba Cloud infrastructure-as-a-service, such as Elastic Compute Service (ECS) clusters and Server Load Balancer (SLB). ECS helped the company respond to the real-time needs of its business with scalable and on-demand compute capacity on the cloud. Similarly, SLB helped distribute the incoming network traffic across groups of backend servers to increase application availability, efficiently manage sudden traffic spikes, and reduce response times.

Funsoft also leveraged Alibaba Cloud Content Delivery Network (CDN) to accelerate the application frontend access, reduce loads on origin servers to prevent network congestion, and secure route to CDN to protect the system from malicious end-user requests and potential threats.

Moreover, Funsoft utilized various Cloud-native data storage solutions on Alibaba Cloud to efficiently manage the vast amount of user and transaction data from different aspects. These included ApsaraDB for Redis for caching, Object Storage Service (OSS) for cold storage and backup, and ApsaraDB for MongoDB for transactional data. It helped Funsoft’s employees with typical database management activities and provided them with a built-in, highly available, efficient, and future-ready storage solution.

Funsoft successfully deployed its NovelMe application on Alibaba Cloud, ensuring high availability, improving response rate, and preventing and mitigating server performance issues. Leveraging Alibaba Cloud’s powerful capabilities, it managed to bring knowledge and entertainment to the fingertips of its users.
