The quotas of Security Center that uses the subscription billing method are the number of servers that can be protected and the number of server cores. To provide the security capabilities of Security Center for the servers that you specify, you must bind quotas to the servers. If you do not bind quotas to the servers, only the security capabilities of Security Center Basic are provided. This topic describes how to bind a quota to a server and unbind a quota from a server.
Prerequisites
The Anti-virus, Advanced, Enterprise, or Ultimate edition of Security Center that uses the subscription billing method is purchased. For more information, see Purchase Security Center.
A server is added to Security Center. For more information, see Install the Security Center agent.
Usage notes
Starting May 30, 2024 (UTC+8), if you purchase Security Center by using the subscription billing method, you can purchase quotas for protected servers and server cores based on your business requirements. After or during the purchase, you must bind the purchased quotas to servers to use the security capabilities of the Security Center edition that you purchased.
If you purchase Security Center by using the subscription billing method before May 30, 2024 (UTC+8), take note of the following items:
If the Manage button is displayed next to Remaining Quota in the Subscription section on the Overview page, your Alibaba Cloud account is in partial protection mode, and you can manage quotas.
If no Manage button is displayed, your Alibaba Cloud account is in full protection mode. In full protection mode, quotas are automatically bound to all servers that are added to Security Center. If you want to provide security capabilities only for specific servers, you can upgrade Security Center to switch to the partial protection mode.
If you do not bind quotas to servers when you purchase Security Center that uses the subscription billing method, Security Center automatically binds the purchased quotas to random servers after the purchase is complete. You can manually unbind quotas from servers. Batch unbinding is supported.
You cannot unbind a quota from a server within 30 days after you bind the quota to the server.
If an Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instance is released or the Security Center agent is uninstalled from a third-party server in the Security Center console, Security Center automatically releases the quota that was bound to the server.
NoteIf you uninstall the Security Center agent from a server without using the Security Center console, the status of the server on the Host page in the Security Center console changes to Agent Offline. In this case, Security Center does not automatically release the quota that is bound to the server.
