Before you use ECS Backup Essential Edition, you must purchase a subscription instance of ECS Backup Essential Edition. This topic describes how to purchase a subscription instance of ECS Backup Essential Edition and the usage notes.
Usage notes
A subscription instance of ECS Backup Essential Edition can be bound to only one Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instance.
The subscription instance of ECS Backup Essential Edition must reside in the same region as the related ECS instance. A subscription instance cannot be used across regions. Before you purchase a subscription instance, check the region where the instance resides.
You must bind a subscription instance to an ECS instance before the subscription expires.
You must pay for a subscription instance of ECS Backup Essential Edition before you can use the instance.
Maximum amount of ECS data protected by ECS Backup Essential Edition
The maximum amount of ECS data that can be protected by each subscription instance of ECS Backup Essential Edition is 500 GB. The limit applies only to the data amount of ECS files and ECS-hosted databases, and does not apply to the data amount of ECS instances. If the limit is exceeded, the backup job fails.
You cannot increase the data amount limit by binding multiple subscription instances of ECS Backup Essential Edition to one ECS instance.

Procedure
Log on to the Cloud Backup console.
In the left-side navigation pane, choose .
On the ECS Backup Essential Edition page, click Purchase Subscription Instance.
On the buy page, select the region, duration, and quantity, and follow the wizard to complete the payment.
On the ECS Backup Essential Edition page, click View Subscription Instances to view the IDs of all purchased subscription instances and the ECS instance bound to each subscription instance. You can also perform the Renew, and Unsubscribe operations.
After you purchase a subscription instance, you can bind the instance to an ECS instance when you create an ECS backup job. For more information, see Backup and restoration.
