    IPv6 Gateway:Limits

    This topic describes the limits on IPv6 gateways, including the limits on egress-only rules and Internet bandwidth throttling.

    Limits on IPv6 gateways

    • Only one IPv6 gateway can be deployed in each virtual private cloud (VPC).

    • After you enable IPv6 for a VPC, the system allocates an IPv6 CIDR block to the VPC. You cannot disassociate the IPv6 CIDR block from the VPC.

    • After you enable IPv6 for a vSwitch, the system allocates an IPv6 CIDR block to the vSwitch. You cannot disassociate the IPv6 CIDR block from the vSwitch.

    • Before you delete an IPv6 gateway, make sure that you have removed all Internet bandwidth plans and egress-only rules associated with the IPv6 addresses of the IPv6 gateway.

    • Before you delete a VPC, make sure that no IPv6 gateway is deployed in the VPC.

    • You can add only custom routes whose destination CIDR block is ::/0 and next hop is an IPv6 gateway.

    Limits on egress-only rules

    Before you create an egress-only rule for an IPv6 address, make sure that you have purchased Internet bandwidth for the IPv6 address.

    Throttling of Internet bandwidth for an IPv6 address

    • The following inbound and outbound bandwidth limits apply to the IPv6 Internet bandwidth that is purchased and modified after 00:00:00 (UTC+8) on June 15, 2024:

      • Inbound bandwidth

        • If the maximum IPv6 Internet bandwidth that you purchase is greater than or equal to 10 Mbit/s, Alibaba Cloud allocates an inbound bandwidth that equals the maximum bandwidth.

        • If the maximum IPv6 Internet bandwidth that you purchase is less than 10 Mbit/s, Alibaba Cloud allocates an inbound bandwidth that is 10 Mbit/s.

      • Outbound bandwidth

        For outbound traffic, Alibaba Cloud allocates bandwidth that equals the maximum IPv6 Internet bandwidth that you purchase.

    • The following table lists the default maximum limit for IPv6 Internet bandwidth that is newly purchased or modified for an IPv6 address.

    For each Alibaba Cloud account, the sum of the maximum Internet bandwidth billed on a pay-by-data-transfer basis for all IPv6 addresses in a region cannot exceed 5 Gbit/s. If your business requires guaranteed bandwidth or larger bandwidth, you can purchase Internet bandwidth that is billed on a pay-by-bandwidth basis.

    For each Alibaba Cloud account, the sum of the maximum Internet bandwidth billed on a pay-by-bandwidth basis for all IPv6 addresses in a region cannot exceed 50 Gbit/s. To increase the maximum bandwidth, submit a ticket or contact your account manager.
