This topic describes how to determine the type of a Data Transmission Service (DTS) instance based on the regions in which the source and destination database instances reside.
Background information
DTS regions can be divided into regions in China and regions outside China.
Regions in China include the Chinese mainland, China (Hong Kong), China (Macau), and China (Taiwan).
Regions outside China are regions other than the Chinese mainland, China (Hong Kong), China (Macau), and China (Taiwan).
Instance type
The type of a DTS instance is determined by the regions in which the source and destination database instances reside. The following table describes the types of DTS instances.
Region in which the source database resides | Region in which the destination database resides | Instance type |
Regions in the Chinese mainland | Regions in the Chinese mainland (same as the source region) | Same-region |
Regions in the Chinese mainland (different from the source region) | Cross-region
China (Hong Kong), China (Macao), China (Taiwan), and regions outside China | Cross-border
