After you enable Database Autonomy Service (DAS) Enterprise Edition (formerly known as DAS Professional Edition), you can use the SQL Explorer and Audit feature. The SQL Explorer and Audit feature, data storage mode, and billing rules vary based on the version of DAS Enterprise Edition. This topic describes the differences between the SQL Explorer and Audit features supported by different versions of DAS Enterprise Edition. This topic also provides answers to the frequently asked questions (FAQ) about data migration between different versions of DAS Enterprise Edition.
What are the differences between the SQL Explorer and Audit features supported by different versions of DAS Enterprise Edition?
On the Edition Management page of the DAS console, you can view the versions of DAS Enterprise Edition of your database instances on the Enterprise Edition Instance tab.
The SQL Explorer and Audit feature, data storage mode, and billing rules vary based on the version of DAS Enterprise Edition. The following table describes the differences between the SQL Explorer and Audit features supported by different versions of DAS Enterprise Edition.
Item | DAS Enterprise Edition V3 | DAS Enterprise Edition V2 | DAS Enterprise Edition V1 | DAS Enterprise Edition V0 |
Billable items | The pay-as-you-go billing method is used. The following billable items are included:
Based on the hybrid storage of hot and cold data, the billable items for DAS Enterprise Edition V3 are divided by features. This makes billing more flexible and reduces costs. For more information, see Billing details. | The pay-as-you-go billing method is used. The following billable items are included:
Compared with DAS Enterprise Edition V1, the underlying storage architecture of DAS Enterprise Edition V2 is changed. The hybrid storage of hot and cold data is used to improve performance at lower costs. For more information, see Billing details. | The fees charged include the subscription fee and storage fee. All the data generated by the SQL Explorer and Audit feature is stored in hot storage mode. You are charged a relatively high storage fee based on the data volume by using the pay-as-you-go billing method. OpenAPI | You can call the GetDasSQLLogHotData operation to query the details of the hot storage data that is generated by the SQL Explorer and Audit feature for a database instance. | You can call the DescribeSQLLogRecords operation to query the logs that are generated by the SQL Explorer and Audit feature for a database instance. Note After you migrate the SQL Explorer and Audit data to DAS Enterprise Edition V3, the DescribeSQLLogRecords operation is no longer supported. You can call only the GetDasSQLLogHotData operation to query data. |
How do I migrate data between different versions of DAS Enterprise Edition?
The migration operation cannot be terminated or rolled back. Read the migration instructions carefully before you migrate data between different versions of DAS Enterprise Edition.
DAS Enterprise Edition supports the second-level migration capability and data migration can be complete within 10 seconds. You can migrate data from DAS Enterprise Edition of an earlier version to DAS Enterprise Edition of a later version, but you cannot migrate data from DAS Enterprise Edition of a later version to DAS Enterprise Edition of an earlier version. No data is lost during the data migration.
You can migrate only data that is stored for no more than 30 days to DAS Enterprise Edition V3. If the storage duration of data is more than 30 days, you can save the data to your local device and modify the storage duration to 30 days. Then, you can migrate the data. After you reduce the storage duration of data, DAS immediately clears the data that is stored for a period longer than the specified storage duration. Proceed with caution.
Migrate data from DAS Enterprise Edition V1 or V0 to DAS Enterprise Edition V3
You can migrate data free of charge. Before the migration is complete, you are charged based on the billing rules of the source version of DAS Enterprise Edition. After the migration is complete, you are charged based on the billing rules of the destination version of DAS Enterprise Edition.
After data of a database instance is migrated to DAS Enterprise Edition V3 that uses the tiered billing method, the SQL details must be stored for 30 days or longer.
After data is migrated to DAS Enterprise Edition V3, the SQL details of DAS Enterprise Edition V1 that is generated within the last 30 days is stored free of charge. The SQL details that was generated 30 days ago is deleted. You are charged for the storage of the SQL details that is generated after migration based on the billing rules of DAS Enterprise Edition V3.
You can view the database instances whose DAS edition can be upgraded on the Edition Management page.
Log on to the DAS console.
In the left-side navigation pane, click Version Management.
On the Edition Management page, click the Enterprise Edition Instance tab, and then click the Unified Billing tab.
In the Instances section, click SQL Explorer and Audit, find the database instance that you want to manage, click Change to Tiered Billing(V3) in the Actions column, and then upgrade the DAS edition as prompted.
Migrate data from DAS Enterprise Edition V2 to DAS Enterprise Edition V3
If you migrate data from DAS Enterprise Edition V2 to DAS Enterprise Edition V3, only the fees for DAS Enterprise Edition are changed and data migration is not involved. You do not need to wait until data migration is complete.
If data is being migrated from a source DAS Enterprise Edition to a destination DAS Enterprise Edition, am I able to use the SQL Explorer and Audit feature supported by the destination DAS Enterprise Edition? How am I charged during data migration?
If the data of your DAS Enterprise Edition is being migrated, you cannot use the SQL Explorer and Audit feature supported by the destination DAS Enterprise Edition. You can use only the SQL Explorer and Audit feature supported by the source DAS Enterprise Edition, and you are charged based on the billable items of the source DAS Enterprise Edition. After data is migrated, DAS automatically disables the SQL Explorer and Audit feature supported by the source DAS Enterprise Edition and enables the SQL Explorer and Audit feature supported by the destination DAS Enterprise Edition. You are charged based on the billable items of the destination DAS Enterprise Edition. For more information, see Billing details.
Why does the amount of data stored in the source DAS Enterprise Edition change to 0 GB in the cold storage and hot storage data in the destination DAS Enterprise Edition?
After data migration is complete, the statistics on the amount of data stored in the destination DAS Enterprise Edition may be delayed. This does not affect your use of the SQL Explorer and Audit feature supported by the destination DAS Enterprise Edition.
Why is the amount of data stored in the source DAS Enterprise Edition V3 different from that stored in DAS Enterprise Edition V0 or V1 after data is migrated from DAS Enterprise Edition V0 or V1 to DAS Enterprise Edition V3?
DAS Enterprise Edition V3 supports hybrid storage of hot and cold data. After data is migrated from DAS Enterprise Edition V0 or V1 to DAS Enterprise Edition V3, data generated in the previous seven days is stored in hot storage mode and data generated seven days ago is stored in cold storage mode.
The data displayed in the DAS Enterprise Edition V0 or V1 console is compressed. After data is migrated from DAS Enterprise Edition V0 or V1 to DAS Enterprise Edition V3, data displayed in the DAS Enterprise Edition V3 console is the original data that is not compressed. Therefore, the amount of data stored in the DAS Enterprise Edition V3 may be larger than that stored in the source DAS Enterprise Edition.
NoteAfter the migration, the amount of data may be increased. However, DAS Enterprise Edition V3 stores data generated seven days ago in cold storage mode and provides a free quota of 30 days for cold storage. The billing rules for cold storage of DAS Enterprise Edition V3 help greatly reduce storage costs.
