Web Application Firewall:Overdue payments

Last Updated:Aug 16, 2024

Overdue payments affect the use of Web Application Firewall (WAF). We recommend that you check whether your account has overdue payments in the Expenses and Costs console and top up your account at the earliest opportunity. This topic describes the causes of overdue payments, suspension policies, and how to view overdue amounts.

Causes of overdue payments

Your Alibaba Cloud account balance is insufficient.

Overdue payments

Scenario

Description

Operation

You are notified that your payment will be due.

For pay-as-you-go instances, the system determines whether your Alibaba Cloud account balance is sufficient to pay for the next three billing cycles based on the average payable amount during the previous 7 hours. If your Alibaba Cloud account balance is insufficient, the system notifies you by text message or email.

Warning

Alibaba Cloud notifies you before your payment becomes overdue. To prevent business interruptions, we recommend that you add funds to your account at the earliest opportunity.

Top up your Alibaba Cloud account.

Your payment is due.

  • If your Alibaba Cloud account has an overdue payment, all the pay-as-you-go instances within the account become overdue.

  • If the amount of the overdue payment does not exceed the overdraft threshold of your Alibaba Cloud account, the WAF instance still provides services. In this case, you receive daily text message reminders.

    Note

Alibaba Cloud supports the extended suspension service. During an extended suspension period, you can still use pay-as-you-go resources if overdue payments occur and the overdue amount does not reach the extended suspension quota. Resources used before the overdraft threshold is exceeded are billed as expected. The overdraft threshold is not the maximum overdue amount that is allowed. The overdraft threshold is automatically calculated and updated on a monthly basis based on the consumption records of your Alibaba Cloud account.

  • If the overdraft threshold is exceeded, Alibaba Cloud suspends your services and stops billing.

  • If your Alibaba Cloud account has an overdue payment, you cannot release your instances before you add funds to your Alibaba Cloud account balance.

Top up your Alibaba Cloud account.

If your Alibaba Cloud account has an overdue payment for more than 15 days, you are deemed to voluntarily discard your pay-as-you-go instances. In this case, Alibaba Cloud releases the instances and deletes the data on the instances.

The released instances cannot be restored.
