This topic describes the configurations of the dedicated physical servers that correspond to the host types of Alibaba Cloud VMware Service (ACVS).

The host types of ACVS represent the configurations of VMware-certified dedicated physical servers that use Intel®️ Xeon®️ Scalable processors and all-flash SSDs.

The following table describes the configurations of the dedicated physical servers that correspond to the host types of ACVS.

Overview

This host type represents the configurations of the first-generation dedicated physical servers for ACVS. It is applicable to workloads that require high-speed write I/O performance.

  1. Simultaneous multithreading (SMT): the Intel®️ hyper-threading technology on Intel platforms. After SMT is enabled, the number of logical CPUs is twice the number of physical processor cores. Logical CPUs are also known as vCPUs in other Alibaba Cloud services that use SMT, such as Elastic Compute Service (ECS).

  2. 1 TB = 10^12 = 1,000,000,000,000 bytes. However, in vCenter of VMware vSphere, 1 TB = 2^40 = 1,099,511,627,776 bytes. Therefore, the nominal capacity of storage in this topic is about 1.1 times the capacity of storage displayed in vCenter. For example, if the total nominal capacity of storage for three vs242.12xlarge hosts is 46.08 TB, the capacity of storage is displayed as 41.92 TB in vCenter.
