If you purchase Security Center before May 30, 2024 (UTC+8), you must purchase a quota for protected servers that is greater than or equal to the number of servers within your Alibaba Cloud account, and a quota for server cores that is greater than or equal to the number of your server cores. To meet your protection requirements for specific servers and prevent resource wasting when you purchase excessive quotas, Security Center provides the partial protection mode. In this mode, you can purchase quotas based on your business requirements and bind the purchased quotas to the servers that you want to protect. This topic describes how to change the protection mode of Security Center from full protection to partial protection.
Precautions
Before you change the protection mode from full protection to partial protection, take note of the following items:
You cannot roll back the change operation.
The quota for protected servers that you purchase in the partial protection mode takes effect only after you bind the quota to the required servers.
Prerequisites
The Anti-virus, Advanced, Enterprise, or Ultimate edition of Security Center is purchased before May 30, 2024 (UTC+8). For more information, see Purchase Security Center.
Procedure
If no information about partial protection is displayed on the page that appears after you click Upgrade Now, your Alibaba Cloud account does not support the change operation. You can unsubscribe from Security Center and then repurchase Security Center in partial protection mode. For more information, see Purchase Security Center.
Log on to the Security Center console. In the top navigation bar, select the region of the asset that you want to manage. You can select China or Outside China. On the Overview page, click Upgrade Now.
On the Upgrade Now page, click Partial Protection Mode.
If the number of assets within your Alibaba Cloud account is less than the quota that you purchased and you use the full protection mode, you can change Security Center specifications during renewal. To reduce the quota for protected servers or server cores during renewal, click Upgrade/Downgrade Renewal In the Renewal panel, reduce the value of the Protected Servers or Cores parameter and complete the payment.
NoteAfter you renew Security Center by changing the specifications, you can click Partial Protection Mode to enable partial protection.
If the number of assets within your account is greater than or equal to the quota that you purchased, Security Center supports only the partial protection mode.
In the Change Protection Mode panel, read and select I understand the risks, and then click OK.
Select the servers to which you want to bind quotas and click OK.
If you want to enable automatic binding of quotas, select Automatically Add New Servers to Security Center.
ImportantYou cannot unbind a quota from a server within 30 days after you bind the quota to the server.
After an Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instance is released, Security Center automatically unbinds the consumed quota from the ECS instance and releases the quota. You can bind the quota to another server.
After the binding operation, a message indicating that the binding is successful appears in the Security Center console.
Click Close to go back to the Security Center console.
You can perform other configurations in the Security Center console. For more information about common configurations, see Configure common features (simplified).
Verification
Return to and refresh the Overview page. If the Manage button is displayed in the Remaining Quota section, the protection mode of Security Center is changed to partial protection.
