Resource Management:Detach a Custom Control Policy

Last Updated:Feb 12, 2026

You can detach a Custom Control Policy at any time. After the policy is detached, the Folder or Member is no longer governed by its rules. To prevent service disruptions, confirm the consequences of detaching the policy.

Background

You can detach both System Policies and Custom Control Policies. However, you cannot detach the last Control Policy attached to a Folder or Member.

Detachment methods

  • Navigate to Resource Directory > Control Policy, click the name of the target policy to open its details page, and then detach the policy from a Folder or Member on the Principals tab.

  • Navigate to Resource Directory > Management, select the target Folder in the Resource Organization View, and then detach the policy on the Policy tab.

  • Navigate to Resource Directory > Management, click the Account ID of the target Member in the Member List View to open the member details page, and then detach the policy on the Policy tab. The following procedure describes this method.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the Resource Management console with a management account.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Resource Directory > Management.

  3. On the page that appears, click Resource Organization View or Member List View in the upper-right corner. Then, click the ID of a member.
