This topic describes how to change the storage type of an ApsaraDB RDS instance from cloud disk to local disk.
If your RDS instance runs MySQL 5.7 on RDS Basic Edition and uses standard SSDs, you can change the storage type of the RDS instance to local disk when you upgrade the RDS instance to RDS High-availability Edition by changing the instance specifications. For more information, see Change the specifications of an ApsaraDB RDS for SQL Server instance.
If your RDS instance does not run MySQL 5.7 on RDS Basic Edition or does not use standard SSDs, you cannot directly change the storage type of your RDS instance to local disk. In this case, you must create an RDS instance that uses local disks and migrate the data of your RDS instance to the created RDS instance. For more information, see Create an ApsaraDB RDS for MySQL instance and Migrate data between ApsaraDB RDS for MySQL instances.
