PolarDB-X supports centralized and distributed architectures and provides Standard Edition and Enterprise Edition instances. A Standard Edition instance is deployed on a single-node architecture to provide services in a centralized manner. An Enterprise Edition instance is deployed on a multi-node architecture to provide services in a distributed manner.
Standard Edition instances and Enterprise Edition instances differ in terms of compatibility and development capabilities. Standard Edition instances are fully compatible with MySQL. Limits are imposed only on specific control SQL statements due to security reasons. Enterprise Edition instances are highly compatible with MySQL. Compared with Standard Edition instances, Enterprise Edition instances impose more limits on compatibility and development capabilities because the deployment architecture is different from the single-node architecture of MySQL.
