PolarDB for PostgreSQL Standard Edition uses a shared storage architecture. Its storage layer is built on enterprise SSDs (ESSDs). You are charged for the purchased ESSD storage capacity. The Standard Edition supports the following billing methods for storage space: pay-as-you-go, and subscription. Pricing varies based on the billing method and storage class.
Pay-as-you-go
You are billed hourly per GB for the storage capacity of your ESSDs. The price varies based on the region, ESSD type, and the storage capacity that you select for the cluster.

Subscription
You are billed monthly per GB for the storage capacity of your ESSDs. The price varies based on the region, ESSD type, and the storage capacity that you select for the cluster.
