This topic provides the pricing of common instances managed by Microservices Engine (MSE) Microservices Registry. Common instances became available for commercial use on January 1, 2020. This topic describes the billable items and pricing of common instances of MSE Microservices Registry.
Billable items
You are charged for Microservices Registry based on MSE-managed common instances and network access. Server Load Balancer (SLB) instances are required to support network access.
For more information about the fees of MSE-managed common instances, see the "Common instance fees" section in this topic. For more information about network fees, see the "Network fees" section in this topic.
Billing methods
Pay-as-you-go: You are charged for the actual usage of each billable item. Fees are deducted after resources are consumed. This billing method is suitable for scenarios in which the usage of resources is difficult to predict.
Subscription: This billing method requires you to pay subscription fees before you can use the service. The subscription billing method provides reserved resources with discounts.
Billing cycle
Pay-as-you-go: If you use the pay-as-you-go billing method, you must select the engine specifications and the number of nodes based on your business requirements. The billing duration is measured in hours. At the beginning of each hour, the system generates your bill for the previous hour and deducts the fees from the balance of your Alibaba Cloud account based on the bill. Bills are automatically generated, and the time at which bills are delivered may vary.
Subscription: If you use the subscription billing method, you must select the engine specifications and the number of nodes based on your business requirements. The billing duration is measured in months. If the duration that you select is 1 year, the total fees are fees for 1 month multiplied by 12. Fees are automatically deducted from the balance of your Alibaba Cloud account. Bills are automatically generated, and the time at which bills are delivered may vary.
Billing formulas
The following content describes the pricing for an MSE instance that has only one node based on the engine specifications that you select. If you configure multiple nodes for an instance, the pricing is determined based on the number of nodes.
Pay-as-you-go: Total fees = Unit price of engine specifications × Number of hours × Number of nodes. For example, if you select a region in the Chinese mainland, select the engine specifications (2 CPU cores and 4 GiB of memory) of the Basic Edition, configure 3 nodes for an instance, and select a duration of 5 hours, the total fees are USD 1.05, which is obtained by using the following formula: 0.07 × 5 × 3.
Subscription: Total fees = Unit price of engine specifications × Number of months × Number of nodes. For example, if you select a region in the Chinese mainland, select the engine specifications (2 CPU cores and 4 GiB of memory) of the Basic Edition, configure 3 nodes for an instance, and select a duration of 8 months, the total fees are USD 792, which is obtained by using the following formula: 33 × 8 × 3.
Common instance fees
MSE-managed common instances support the pay-as-you-go and subscription billing methods. The billable items include the engine specifications (CPU and memory resources) and the number of nodes.
The prices described in this topic are for reference only. For the actual prices, refer to the MSE buy page.

Network fees
If a common instance that is created on MSE needs to be accessed over the Internet or a virtual private cloud (VPC), SLB instances are required to support network access. The following table describes the billable items and pricing of SLB instances.
The prices described in this topic are for reference only. For the actual prices, refer to the MSE buy page.
