Audio and video transcoding fees include fees for regular transcoding, Narrowband HDTM 1.0 transcoding, Narrowband HDTM 2.0 transcoding, and API calls. You are charged the audio and video transcoding fees of ApsaraVideo Media Processing (MPS) based on the specifications of output files and the transcoding duration. This topic describes the pricing and billing rules of audio and video transcoding in MPS. This topic also provides examples on how to calculate audio and video transcoding fees.
Pricing for transcoding
Note The unit prices provided in this topic are only for reference. For more information about the actual prices, visit the MPS pricing page.
The specifications of an output video are based on the resolution range within which the long side and short side of the output video fall. Example:
If the long side of the output video is not greater than 1,280 pixels and the short side is not greater than 720 pixels, the output video belongs to the SD (1280 × 720 pixels) specifications. If the long side of the output video exceeds 1,280 pixels or the short side exceeds 720 pixels, the output video belongs to higher specifications.

Billing
Item | Description |
Billing rules | You are charged based on the specifications and length of the output file when you use the regular transcoding, Narrowband HDTM 1.0 transcoding, and Narrowband HDTM 2.0 transcoding features. The length of the output file is accurate to seconds.
Note If a file fails to be transcoded, no fees are charged. You are also charged for transcoding when you use features such as audio extraction, video extraction, video splicing, video editing, video snapshot, and watermarking features. This is because that transcoding is performed when you use these features. Fees for API calls are charged when you use the video snapshot and watermarking features.
|
Billing cycle | Bills are generated every hour. The bill for a billing cycle is generally generated 1 hour after the billing cycle ends. The actual time when the system generates bills prevails. Fees are automatically deducted from your Alibaba Cloud account after bills are generated. If a resource plan exists, the resource plan is preferentially deducted. |
Billing methods | Pay-as-you-go Transcoding: The fees for transcoding are the sum of transcoding fees for various supported specifications. Transcoding fees for a specific specification type = Length of the output file × Unit price for the specification type. The minimum billable length is 1 minute. API calls: Fees for API calls = Number of successful calls × Unit price.

Billing examples
Transcoding
The transcoding feature is used in the UK (London) region between 08:00:00 and 09:00:00 on a day. Regular transcoding is performed to transcode an H.264 video of 200 minutes in length to an LD video that has a resolution of 640 × 480 pixels. Narrowband HDTM 1.0 transcoding is also performed to transcode the same video to an SD video that has a resolution of 1280 × 720 pixels. In this case, the fees for transcoding generated between 08:00:00 and 09:00:00 on the day can be calculated by using the following formula: 200 minutes × USD 0.0033 per minute + 200 minutes × USD 0.0339 per minute = USD 7.44.
API calls
The SubmitMediaInfoJob operation is called in the Singapore region 1,000 times. All calls are successful. In this case, the fees for calling the operation can be calculated by using the following formula: 1,000 calls × USD 0.01479 per thousand calls = USD 0.01479.
