ApsaraDB for MongoDB:[Notice] EOS for ApsaraDB for MongoDB instances that run MongoDB 3.0 and MongoDB 3.2 on December 31, 2024 (UTC+8)

Last Updated:Jan 03, 2025

In 2018, the MongoDB community permanently stopped the update of MongoDB 3.0 and MongoDB 3.2. The versions pose instances that run the versions to high risks. Therefore, we will put ApsaraDB for MongoDB instances that run the versions into the End of Service (EOS) state on December 31, 2024 (UTC+8). After the EOS, Alibaba Cloud will not provide support and services for the two versions. We recommend that you upgrade your instance to a later version at your earliest opportunity.

Effective time

December 31, 2024 (UTC+8)

Impacts

After the EOS:

  • All features or services become unavailable, and access to the involved instances from the ApsaraDB for MongoDB console is disabled.

  • Instance resources are released.

  • All support and services are stopped.

Suggestions

Warning

Upgrade your instance at your earliest opportunity to avoid impacts on your business.

We recommend that you upgrade your instance to MongoDB 6.0 or later.

  • If you want to upgrade your instance to MongoDB 4.0 or MongoDB 4.2, perform a major version upgrade in the ApsaraDB for MongoDB console. For more information, see Upgrade the major version of an instance.

  • If you want to upgrade your instance to MongoDB 4.4 or later, create an instance that runs MongoDB 4.4 or later and then use Data Transmission Service (DTS) to migrate data from the source instance to the new instance. For more information, see Migrate data from a MongoDB database.

For more information about how to upgrade the major version of an instance, see Upgrade the major version of an instance.

Before the major version upgrade, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with the major versions to which the instances of different architectures and versions can be upgraded and the compatibility changes when major versions are changed. For more information, see ApsaraDB for MongoDB major version upgrade.
