This topic describes how to upgrade or downgrade the configurations of a MaxCompute subscription resource package. You can scale out the resources that are allocated to your subscription resource package to handle increased workloads or scale in resources to reduce costs.
Upgrade resource configurations
If the resources that are allocated to your MaxCompute subscription resource package cannot handle the required workloads, you can upgrade the resource configurations to scale out the resources.
Log on to the MaxCompute console. In the top navigation bar, select the region in which your MaxCompute project resides.
In the left-side navigation pane, choose Workspace > Quotas.
On the Quotas page, find the desired quota, click the icon in the Actions column, and then select Upgrade.
On the MaxCompute (Subscription) | Upgrade/Downgrade page, specify the number of compute units (CUs) that you require, read the terms of service, select I have read and agree MaxCompute SLA and I have read and agree Alibaba Cloud Service Agreement - MaxCompute, and then click Buy Now. The fees incurred per upgrade order are calculated based on the following formula:
Fees incurred per upgrade order = Fees charged for the remaining period on the subscription project based on the new configuration (Monthly subscription fees charged based on the new configuration/30/24 × Remaining period) - Fees charged for the remaining period on the subscription project based on the previous configuration (Monthly subscription fees charged based on the previous configuration/30/24 × Remaining period)
In the preceding formula, the remaining period is from the date when the upgrade takes effect to the date when the subscription expires. The remaining period is measured in hours. If the remaining period is less than one hour, it still must be converted into hours.
On the Purchase page, confirm the order and click Purchase to complete the payment.
After you complete the payment, you can go to the Orders page to view the details of the order.
NoteIf the upgrade succeeds, the CUs that are added after the upgrade are automatically included in Default Quota Group. If you want to assign specific CUs that are added after the upgrade from Default Quota Group to other quota groups, follow the instructions in Manage quotas in the new MaxCompute console.
Downgrade resource configurations
You are charged for idle resources. If your actual workloads do not use all of the resources that are allocated to your MaxCompute subscription resource package, you can perform the following steps to release the idle resources to reduce costs:
Log on to the MaxCompute console. In the top navigation bar, select the region in which your MaxCompute project resides.
In the left-side navigation pane, choose Workspace > Quotas.
On the Quotas page, find the desired quota, click the icon in the Actions column, and then select Downgrade.
On the MaxCompute (Subscription) | Downgrade page, specify the number of CUs that you require, read the terms of service, select I have read and agree MaxCompute SLA and I have read and agree Alibaba Cloud Service Agreement - MaxCompute, and then click Buy Now.
For more information about downgrade rules, see Rules for unsubscribing from resources.
After you complete the payment, you can go to the Orders page to view the details of the order.
NoteIf you downgrade resource configurations immediately after an upgrade, you may receive only part of the refund due to one of the following reasons:
A discount is applied to the order that you placed when you purchased the resource package. For example, you placed a one-year subscription order. A discount of 15% is applied to the order. Therefore, if the original price is USD 154.7, you need only to pay USD 131.5. In this case, the refund is calculated based on the price of USD 131.5.
A voucher is applied to the order that you placed when you purchased the resource package. In this case, the refund does not include the vouchers that you used.
