Enabling auto-renewal for subscription instances reduces management costs and prevents service interruptions that can occur if you forget to renew your Lindorm instance. If you no longer need the auto-renewal feature, you can disable it. This topic describes how to enable auto-renewal.
Prerequisites
The Lindorm instance must use the subscription billing method.
Notes
The first payment for the auto-renewal of a subscription Lindorm instance is deducted on the third day before the instance expires. If the payment fails, the system makes subsequent deduction attempts on the day before the expiration date, on the expiration date, on the 6th day after the expiration date, and on the 14th day after the expiration date, until the payment is successful. If all automatic payment attempts fail after the instance expires, you must renew the instance manually to prevent downtime and data loss. Ensure that your Alibaba Cloud account has a sufficient balance to avoid renewal failures.
If you manually renew an instance before its auto-renewal date, the instance is not automatically renewed in the same billing cycle. The system attempts to automatically renew the instance before the next expiration date.
The auto-renewal feature takes effect the next day. If your instance expires the next day, you must renew it manually to avoid service interruptions. For more information, see Manually renew a subscription instance.
If you change the resource specifications before the renewal order takes effect, you can only unsubscribe from the resources. In this case, you cannot cancel the resource renewal order.
If an auto-renewal payment fails, the system sends a notification to the mobile phone number and email address that are associated with your Alibaba Cloud account. Check the notification and resolve the issue promptly to prevent service interruptions caused by the Lindorm instance expiring.
Methods
You can enable auto-renewal in one of the following two ways:
Enable auto-renewal when you create an instance
When you enable auto-renewal for a Lindorm instance during purchase, the auto-renewal period is set to one month for monthly subscriptions and one year for yearly subscriptions. For example, if you purchase an instance for a subscription duration of three months and select Auto-renewal, the instance is automatically renewed for one month before the three-month subscription expires.
