:Handle a database without a data Owner

Issue

The database in DMS does not have a data administrator.

Solution

The data Owner is the database or table Owner who manages the database tables that other users are responsible for, and is usually the business Owner at the database level. If no Owner exists on the data when you apply for Database permissions, there is no Owner for the current data and no reviewer is available for your applications. For more information about how to confirm the database Owner, see how to confirm the database Owner. The following method is used to solve the problem where the database does not have the data Owner in DMS:

note: Before you apply for a data Owner, read the following notes:

• When you apply for multiple permissions at the same time, the ticket will be split in the dimensions of the Owner and DBA. The ticket must be approved in each process to complete.
• The data Owner is the data administrator and takes on data security responsibilities. Proceed with caution.

1. Log on to the DMS console.

   note: if the old version of Alibaba Cloud page is displayed after successful logon, click in the upper-right corner to go to new version of DMS.

2. On the Data Management DMS page, click apply permission in the permission management section.
3. On the permission application ticket list page, click apply for permissions on the right side, and then select database-OWNER or table-OWNER based on the actual situation.
4. Filter the databases or tables on which you want to apply for permissions by default. Then, click add in the middle.
5. Fill in the application reason.
6. Click submit application.
7. After the application is approved, confirm that the database has successfully added a data Owner.

How do I confirm the database Owner?

If you are not sure whether you have set the database Owner, refer to the following steps:

1. Log on to the DMS console.

   note: if the old version of Alibaba Cloud page is displayed after successful logon, click in the upper-right corner to go to new version of DMS.

2. On the Data Management DMS page, click quick database discovery.
3. After you filter the specified database, view the list of database owners that corresponds to the right of the database, check whether the database Owner is set.
