Express Connect:High reliability mode

Last Updated:Jul 05, 2024

Express Connect provides the high reliability mode for Express Connect circuits. The high reliability mode allows you to connect to Alibaba Cloud services with multiple lines, ensuring uninterrupted business operations by preventing disruptions caused by single-line failures.

Overview

In the high reliability mode of Express Connect, you can switch your traffic to redundant lines in the case of a line failure. If your business requires disaster recovery capabilities, we recommend that you select the high reliability mode when you purchase an Express Connect circuit. The high reliability mode offers a range of multi-line combination options, allowing you to choose the one that best aligns with your business requirements and service-level agreement (SLA) objectives. For more information about the SLA, see Express Connect Service Level Agreement.

When you purchase connections, you can select the following combination options to provide disaster recovery capabilities for your service.

  • Optimal disaster recovery: You can apply for resources in two access points and create four dedicated connections over Express Connect circuits. The SLA of optimal disaster recovery is at least 99.99%. For more information, see Optimal disaster recovery.

  • Powerful disaster recovery: You can apply for two access points and create two dedicated connections over Express Connect circuits. The SLA of powerful disaster recovery is at least 99.95%. For more information, see Powerful disaster recovery.

  • Development and testing: You can use the devices in one access point to create two dedicated connections over Express Connect circuits. For more information, see Development and testing.

  • Load balancing for large bandwidth: You can apply for multiple Express Connect circuits on one access device in the access point. Then, load balancing can be implemented to increase the forwarding bandwidth. To use load balancing for large bandwidth, contact your account manager to apply for permissions.

Usage notes

  • You need to configure your quota to purchase and create multiple connections. If the number of your connections exceeds the quota, log on to the quota management center to increase the quota. For more information, see Manage Express Connect quotas.

  • You need to enable the billing for outbound data transfer in advance. Otherwise, you cannot purchase Express Connect resources. For more information, see Outbound data transfer fee.

  • When you purchase and create multiple connections, the failure to create one single connection can cause the failure to purchase all connections. In this case, delete all the Express Connect circuit connections that you create this time and create the connections again.
