This topic describes the refunding rules and methods of Alibaba Cloud E-MapReduce (EMR) clusters.
Refunding rules and methods
Billing method | Refund rule | Refund method |
Subscription | Subscription clusters are paid based on the subscription period when the clusters are created. After an Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instance on which your EMR cluster is deployed is released, the system refunds you the fees for unused resources. Note Releasing an ECS instance is equivalent to downgrading the specifications of an EMR cluster. Each time an ECS instance is released, a downgrade order is generated. After all the ECS instances of an EMR cluster are released, you cannot continue to downgrade the specifications of the cluster. During the downgrade, the refundable amount is calculated based on the following formula:
For information about refund policies, see Rules for unsubscribing from resources. Important EMR does not support the refund of fees incurred by the renewal of a subscription EMR cluster. |

Pay-as-you-go | You are billed for pay-as-you-go clusters only after you use the clusters. Refunding is not supported for pay-as-you go resources. Note If you no longer require a pay-as-you-go EMR cluster, you can release the cluster. Before you release the EMR cluster, make sure that data in the cluster is backed up or migrated and your business is not affected. After you release the cluster, you are no longer charged for the cluster. | N/A. |
