Edge Security Acceleration:DNS settings

Last Updated:Dec 10, 2024

DNS settings provide you with two advanced features: CNAME flattening and DNS setup conversion. The CNAME flattening feature allows you to use CNAME records directly on root domain names such as example.com. You can also switch between CNAME and NS for your DNS setup.

CNAME flattening

CNAME flattening is a DNS resolution technology that allows you to use CNAME records instead of A/AAAA records at root domains such as example.com. In most cases, CNAME records at root domains are not allowed. However, with CNAME flattening, ESA finds the IP address that a CNAME points to and then returns the final IP address to clients.

Description

Convert to CNAME setup

If you do not want the DNS resolution to be proxied by ESA, convert your DNS setup to CNAME.

Convert to NS setup

The NS setup provides more comprehensive DNS security services and simplifies the configuration process.
