Overview
This article describes how to restore accidentally deleted data in an ECS instance.
Detail
Alibaba Cloud reminds you that:
- Before you perform operations that may cause risks, such as modifying instance configurations or data, we recommend that you check the disaster recovery and fault tolerance capabilities of the instances to ensure data security.
- You can modify the configurations and data of instances including but not limited to Elastic Compute Service (ECS) and Relational Database Service (RDS) instances. Before the modification, we recommend that you create snapshots or enable RDS log backup.
- If you have authorized or submitted sensitive information such as the logon account and password in the Alibaba Cloud Management Console, we recommend that you modify such information in a timely manner.
- The data backup of the ECS instance is generally based on the ECS snapshot function. If the data is deleted accidentally, log on to the ECS console first, and click the instance in the left-side navigation pane. Select the storage and snapshot>Snapshot to check whether you have created a snapshot for the instance.
Note: a snapshot is created based on a disk. You need to check whether the ID of the disk where the snapshot is created is the same as the ID of the disk where data loss occurs.
- If the instance has a snapshot from the instance, use the snapshot to roll back the disk. To avoid secondary data loss, you must create a snapshot for the data before the rollback.
- If no such snapshot is available, we recommend that you use a third-party tool to restore data. Use the third-party tool.
- Linux ECS instances, use the Testdisk tool to restore data. For more information, see data restoration on Linux instances.
Note: for more information about how to restore data from a Testdisk partition, see restore data by using Testdisk.
- For ECS instances running Windows, see use the DiskGenius tool to restore data. Download the client from the DiskGenius website and install the scanning tool.
- Linux ECS instances, use the Testdisk tool to restore data. For more information, see data restoration on Linux instances.
