Data Transmission Service (DTS) allows you to terminate an instance that you want to stop or a failed instance that is no longer needed. This prevents data in the destination database from being overwritten by data in the source database.
Prerequisites
A data synchronization or migration instance is created. For more information, see Overview of data synchronization scenarios and Overview of data migration scenarios.
The instance is running and is not in the Completed state.
Usage notes
After a DTS instance is terminated, the instance is in the Completed state and cannot be restarted. In this case, if you want to use the instance again, you must reconfigure the instance. Proceed with caution when you terminate an instance.
You cannot terminate a change tracking instance. You can release the instance based on your business requirements. For more information, see Release DTS instances.
Procedure
In this example, a data synchronization instance is used to show how to terminate an instance.
- Go to the Data Synchronization Tasks page.
- Log on to the Data Management (DMS) console.
- In the top navigation bar, click DTS.
- In the left-side navigation pane, choose .
Note- Operations may vary based on the mode and layout of the DMS console. For more information, see Simple mode and Customize the layout and style of the DMS console.
- You can also go to the Data Synchronization Tasks page of the new DTS console.
- From the drop-down list to the right of Data Synchronization Tasks, select the region in which the data synchronization instance resides. Note If you use the new DTS console, you must select the region in which the data synchronization instance resides in the top navigation bar.
Terminate the instance.
NoteTo terminate an instance in the Running state, click the
.Select the instance that you want to terminate.
In the lower part of the page, click Stop Task.
In the message that appears, click OK.
What to do next
After a DTS instance is terminated, we recommend that you remove the CIDR blocks of DTS servers that are added to the instance. This prevents DTS from accessing the databases of the instance again. For more information, see the "CIDR blocks of DTS servers" table in the Add the CIDR blocks of DTS servers to the security settings of on-premises databases topic.
Among the IP address whitelists of Alibaba Cloud database instances, delete the IP address whitelists whose names contain
dts
.For the security group rules of Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instances, delete the security groups whose names contain
DTS
.In the security settings of self-managed databases or databases hosted on third-party cloud services, remove the CIDR blocks of DTS servers.
